“Avengers: Age of Ultron” opened to $187.7 million in
the U.S. and Canada, according an an estimate by distributor Disney
“Age of
Ultron’s” $84.5 million in ticket sales Thursday evening and Friday actually
beat the $80.8 million generated by “Avengers” over the same timespan. But on
Saturday the sequel fell short, grossing $57.2 million compared to $69.6
million for its predecessor.
Costing around $250 million to produce, the second
“Avengers” should be another very profitable film for Disney and its
consistently successful Marvel unit.
No other new movies dared to open nation-wide against
“Age of Ultron.”
